Position Overview
The Welder Level II is responsible for using hand-welding or flame-cutting equipment to weld or join metal components to fill holes, indentations or seams of fabricated metal products.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
β’ Read and interpret blueprints and weld symbols.
β’ Weld metal components in flat, vertical or overhead positions.
β’ Lay out, position, align and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly using straightedges, combination squares, calibers and rulers.
β’ Finish surfaces of material product and re-touch welds including repair, polish and grind.
β’ Examine finished work pieces for conformance to quality standards.
β’ Examine work pieces for defects and measure workpieces with straight-edges or templates to ensure conformance with specifications.
β’ Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade, such as a shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment
