The Physician Assistant practices as a direct patient healthcare provider under the supervision of a physician. They work with patients and their families to coordinate the delivery of care. This includes but is not limited to the assessment, diagnosis, and evaluation of clients throughout the established plan of care. The Physician Assistant shall obtain health histories and perform physical examinations, order appropriate diagnostic test and treatment regimens, prepares and consents patients for procedures, assists a team of vascular surgeons as needed in the operating room, cath lab or other procedural settings, provides patient care in the in-patient setting, takes first call on some nights and weekends, and provides education to patients, families, and departmental staff as needed.
