**Description**

**4th Floor Oncology** specializes in caring for adult patients primarily admitted with oncology and hematology diagnoses, focusing on managing symptoms or complications related to cancer or blood disorders. In addition, the unit manages general medical overflow patients, particularly those with end-stage renal disease who require peritoneal dialysis. Bedside nurses on this floor receive specialized training in peritoneal dialysis, ensuring comprehensive, high-quality care for all patients.

Summary:

The Unit Secretary-Nursing Assistant I performs a variety of secretarial support and basic nursing care activities for patients and families during his/her assigned shift, working under the supervision of the RN/LPN as defined by the NC Board of Nursing. Communicates with nursing staff, provider office staff, and/or other entities regarding patient information, while carrying out assigned patient care, receptionist and secretarial duties.
