The Unit Cler performs clerical functions necessary for the operation of a nursing unit under the direction of a Registered Nurse. Activities are related to providing assistance to customers (nursing staff, physicians, patients and families, etc.) including telecommunication, clerical and environmental duties. Education/Experience Requirements: High school graduate or equivalent thereof. Computer experience and previous background in healthcare or secretarial science highly desirable. Responsibilities: • Enter all physician orders in the computer, except medication orders. • Utilize effective verbal communication skills including use of telephone. • In collaboration with nurse manager, monitor supplies to ensure availability. • Maintain all medical records on the unit. • Coordinate all patient movement on and off the unit. • Fulfill routine tasks based on unit need. • Review and process Advanced Directive paperwork as indicated. • Provide input into efforts to conti...
