Summary The Telephone Operator receives, interprets and directs a high volume of routine and priority telephone calls and responds to general inquiries from Veterans, families, visitors, community providers and health care system clinical and administrative staff. Responsibilities The Telephone Operator operates a computerized telephone system that has a 1400 line capacity. They handle in-coming calls for all Services of the Medical Center and, at times, for various personnel associated with Marshall University School of Medicine. Major Duties include, but are not limited to: Assists employees in placing long distance, commercial, and directory assistance calls as requested and completes all calls outside of the United States as required. Initiates 8 party conference calls form the console, as well as, preparing and setting up equipment for larger conference calls.
