Last year, the South African G20 Presidency helped to deliver a global first for international carbon market infrastructure – a voluntary, common foundation for carbon credit data standardisation, known as the Common Carbon Credit Data Model (‘Data Model’). This is a critical step to resolving one of the market infrastructure obstacles that prevents carbon credit markets from scaling – and channeling potential tens of billions of annual, debt‑free dollars to emerging markets and developing economies.
