About the unit 

 Level 3 trauma center with 15 operating rooms in the Magnet Designated Corewell Health System.  We are a center of excellence for bariatrics and total joints.  Approximately 40% of our cases are comprised of total joints and elective spine cases.  The remaining 60% of cases are comprised of General, Colon/Rectal, Urology, Bariatric, Plastic and ENT surgeries.  Blodgett Surgery is a high-tech environment with 3 Davinci robots, a Mako robot, Mazor and Stealth technology.  The OR is a team environment, as Nurses, Surgical Technologists and Surgery Support Staff work together to care for patients and support surgeons and anesthesia providers throughout the surgical procedure.  The Blodgett OR team also serves as the patient advocate while the patient is under anesthesia.  OR staff must use precise, critical thinking, often within a short time ...
