Responsible for the care and safety of the patients under their care. Included within this assignment is the responsibility for organization and preparation of instrumentation and equipment for surgical procedures, equipment/instruments and all aspects of infection control and safety.

Responsibilities

Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards. Provides nursing care, based on individual patient needs as assessed by the registered nurse. Maintains aseptic techniques; actively monitors situations which could lead to breaches in aseptic technique. Assists circulator in preparation of room for operative procedure.
