Position Overview
We are looking for a resilient and dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a specialist setting in Middlesbrough. This role involves supporting children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, many of who display challenging behaviour and require consistent, structured support to access education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs
- Support students in managing challenging behaviour using positive behaviour strategies
- Build strong, trusting relationships to promote emotional regulation and engagement
- Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored learning activities
- Implement behaviour support plans and monitor progress
- Help create a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment
- Support pupils both inside and outside the classroom where required
