Summary Corrections professionals who foster a humane and secure environment and ensure public safety by preparing individuals for successful reentry into our communities. Responsibilities Serves as the department head in the Correctional Services department at a Bureau of Prisons correctional institute. Serves as the resident expert on all custodial and security questions arising at the institution and has full and final technical responsibility when problems occur during the course of any given shift. Responsible for institutional security, inmate conduct and discipline, inmate work, control of hazardous tools and material, safety, sanitation, control and use of institution vehicles, and key control. Inspects facilities, observes personnel and inmates from the standpoint of security, morale and employee-inmate relations, and overall program coordination.
