Position Overview
Description
The incumbent will work as part of the TPCL team, which facilitates biomedical research by providing remnant human tissue samples and histology services. During surgeries, only a
portion of the tissue removed from patients is used for diagnostic purposes; the remaining βremnantβ tissue is typically discarded. The TPCL team collects, processes, stores, and
distributes these remnant tissues to approved biomedical researchers at UCLA. Additionally, the team offers histology services, including embedding and sectioning of both frozen and
formalin-fixed human and animal tissues, as well as digital imaging, image analysis, and immunohistochemistry.
Key Responsibilities:
* Receive tissue samples from clinical pathology staff for distribution as fresh tissues or for banking.
* Freeze and/or process tissues in formalin, and document all samples banked or distributed.
