**Job Summary and Responsibilities**

**Position Summary:**

CVT surgery PA provides first assist for open heart, thoracic and vascular surgeries, and second assist performing endovascular vein harvest for CABG and vascular cases. The CVT Surgery PA provides daily rounds, post operative care to include ICU and telemetry stepdown unit patient care. The PA is responsible for pre/post op orders and patient discharges. The PA is an considered an extender to the surgeon and must have good communication skills to speak with other physicians for necessary consults.

Essential duties include but not limited to:

+ Take an appropriate history, make an assessment and perform an appropriate physical examination for those patients initially admitted to the hospital or seen in consultation by the Supervising Physician(s).
