Job Description:
L3Harris Stress engineers will review and interpret the mechanical environmental conditions provided in the statement of work and the technical performance specification as it applies to the equipment being developed under the program. Internal loads that will size the equipment to meet the program technical requirements will be developed based on the externally applied acceleration, vibration, shock, and other dynamic loads. The appropriate factors of safety will be applied when writing yield and ultimate margins of safety to demonstrate structural integrity and considering temperature effects on material properties and strength allowables.
Stress engineers are responsible for achieving a compliant design which will meet all program environmental requirements and demonstrated by successfully passing qualification testing.
