The mission of Correctional Managed Care is to address the healthcare needs of underserved patient populations within the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) and the Texas Juvenile Justice Department (TJJD).

**_JOB SUMMARY_** **:**

Provides language assistance by means of American Sign Language or other manual sign system for all medical communications between UTMBs staff and patients, patients' families, and visitors.

**_ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS_** **:**

+ Contributes to the overall success of the UTMB Language Assistance program by serving hearing impaired or deaf patients and visitors, using American Sign Language or other manual sign system in classrooms and lecture halls, presentations and clinical settings.
