Job Description 1st Class Shipfitter



Job Type: Full-Time

Schedule: Day Shift / Night Shift / Overtime Available

We are seeking an experienced 1st Class Shipfitter to join our shipyard team supporting new construction, repair, and modernization projects. The ideal candidate will have advanced knowledge of shipfitting techniques, blueprint reading, steel fabrication, and structural installation aboard commercial or naval vessels. Candidates must be able to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high quality and safety standards.



Read and interpret shipyard blueprints, structural drawings, and work specifications

Fit and align bulkheads, foundations, decks, hull sections, and other ship structures

Measure, cut, burn, bevel, and prepare steel using hand tools and power equipment

Perform tack welding and work closely with welders to complete final welds
