Te tūnga | The role: A 12‑month fixed‑term parental leave opportunity for a Senior Technician to join our successful and growing Clinical Virology team within the Health Group, based at Wallaceville Science Centre, Upper Hutt. This role will perform routine and non‑routine laboratory analysis of clinical samples, undertake testing using virology, molecular and/or serologic techniques, perform calculations and interpret results.

Qualifications

• Appropriate science qualification at a tertiary level.
• Registration or ability to gain registration with the New Zealand Medical Sciences Council.
• Right to work in New Zealand.
• Experience of infectious disease molecular and/or serology principles and practice, including ELISA and PCR.
• Ability to handle clinical and surveillance samples appropriately.
• Ability to handle chemicals appropriately and prepare reagents accurately.
