Overview This position is responsible for serving as a seasonal research technician with the Chiswell Island Steller sea lion remote video monitoring project.
Education/Training Requirements A bachelor’s degree in biology, marine biology, zoology, or related field with two years of experience in a similar position preferred.
Experience in biological field studies, including survey counts, behavioral observations, photo ID, and image processing of marine mammals.
Preference for experience servicing and operating remote video monitoring equipment, scat collection and processing for diet and hormone analyses, and First Aid/CPR certified.
Conducts behavioral and population monitoring of Steller sea lions by operating remote video cameras from an office setting.
Conducts photo-identification of pinnipeds through remote video equipment, still imagery, or in the field as needed.
