Unit has 24 beds with Med Surg and Tele capability on all beds. The unit is heavy on telemetry. The patient population includes adults and pediatrics, but travelers will not take pediatric patients; these are assigned to permanent staff. Candidates must possess strong neuro and cardiac skills. A minimum of 2 years of experience is required. ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications are mandatory. PALS certification is preferred. Shifts are 12 hours with a guaranteed 36 hours per week. The unit uses the Allscripts EMR system. Support staff includes telemetry technicians, a charge nurse, health unit coordinators, and patient care technicians. Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:5 during days, 1:6 during nights, and 1:4 for pediatrics, based on the level of acuity. Nurse managers do not provide patient care but conduct rounds.
