**Description**

**6 Memorial is a 28 bed GI Surgery & Surgical Oncology Acute Care unit at UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill.** Our interdisciplinary team provides evidence-based and high-quality care primarily to adult post-surgical patients with weight loss issue, gastrointestinal (GI) cancers, and complex non-cancer GI-related illnesses.

Our surgical oncology physician leaders are under the Surgical Oncology Division. This division is affiliated with the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center. These physician leaders are nationally renowned for their expertise in improving colorectal, GI, and endocrine malignancy through clinical excellence, medical education, and research. Similarly, our GI physicians are known for their efforts in enhancing patient care for upper and lower gastrointestinal patients. Lastly, we are recognized nationally as a Bariatric Center for Excellence.
