**THE UNIT:**

Allegheny General's 6A Stepdown Unit is a 30 bed unit specializing in the care of ICU stepdown patients and complex medical cases. Primarily serving as a receiving unit for patients stepping down from MICU, 6A also admits patients from the Emergency Department, outside hospitals, and smaller ICUs requiring a higher level of care for stabilization.
