Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Research Teaching Specialist III in the Public Health Research Institute within the New Jersey Medical School (NJMS).

Under the direction of the Principal Investigator and Research Operations Assistant Director, the Research Teaching Specialist III conducts research activities in diagnostic microbiology within a specialized biosafety level three (BSL3) containment laboratory. Assists the Principal Investigator with budgetary, lab maintenance, training and administrative responsibilities, income revenue streams.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

Cultures and quantitates pathogenic and non-pathogenic bacteria and viruses including M. Tuberculosis and SARSCoV2 requiring work in BSL3 facilities.

Performs detailed MICs and DNA/RNA extraction of above described bacteria using various systems and performs preliminary analysis.
