The Department of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering at College of Engineering, United Arab Emirates University calls applications for Research Associates to work in the field of bio-based materials. The candidate will be supported by a research grant for four months and will work under the supervision of Professor Mohammad Jawaid.

• Extraction of lignin using natural deep eutectic solvents from biomass
• Characterisation of extracted lignin from biomass
• Modification of lignin to biobased resin
• Testing extracted and modified lignin using advanced characterization techniques such as thermal analysis, structural assessment, morphological studies, NMR, UV spectroscopy, particle size analysis (PSA), and Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) analysis
• Present and report research results at national and international conferences and publish scientific results in peer‑reviewed Q1 journals
