Function Nursing Facility Position Renal Transplant Co-Ordinator Introduction
A vacancy exists for a Renal Transplant Co-Ordinator reporting to the Nurse Manager – Specialised Units. The successful candidate will be responsible for the renal transplant program in KZN.
Critical Outputs
Marketing to emergency services, emergency departments and ICU’s.Travelling to assess the compatibility of potential donors, where necessary approach next of kin, cadaver brain death certification.Co-ordinate all the clinical and pathology test of donor/recipient tissue typing and cross matching.Ensuring that the donor/recipient receives psychological support where necessary.In the event of an unnatural death requiring forensic post mortem, obtain written permission from the relevant forensic pathologist for the removal organsCo-ordination of the various surgical teams, theatre for organ retrieval and transplant.
