The Community - Shiprock, NM
Shiprock (Navajo: Naat'áanii Nééz) is a vibrant community located in the northwest corner of New Mexico on the Navajo Nation. Named after the dramatic volcanic rock formation Tsé Bit'a'i (rock with wings) that towers nearly 1,600 feet above the desert floor, Shiprock offers breathtaking high-desert scenery, rich cultural heritage, and a strong sense of community. The area provides easy access to the Four Corners region, Mesa Verde National Park, and the San Juan Mountains of Colorado. Outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy hiking, photography, and exploring the vast landscapes of the Navajo Nation. The community hosts the annual Northern Navajo Nation Fair, one of the largest gatherings celebrating Navajo culture, rodeo, and traditional arts.
