About the department

Bassett Medical Center's Special Care Unit is a 24-bed intermediate care unit, serving as the essential link between our hospital’s Intensive Care Unit and Medical Units. Because of the higher clinical needs of the patient’s cared for on this unit, the staffing is allocated to allow for more direct patient care nursing hours. This close-knit unit supports intraprofessional collaborative care.
