The radiologic technologist obtains radiographs of various parts of the body for assessment, diagnosis, or staging of disease or injuries. Assists with fluoroscopic examinations and invasive procedures while ensuring sterile technique while under direct supervision of the physician. Assumes responsibility for the protection of themselves, the patient and others by adhering to prescribed safety standards (ALARA) outlining the use of ionizing radiation. Follows departmental contrast policy when administering any type of contrast. Practices infection control per hospital policy. Maintains open communication and is available to component organizations and practitioner sites for consultations.
