They are the maintainer of a -mile-long section of test track, which is fit for purpose for the provision of services to test, trial and develop new railway technologies ranging from new rolling stock to infrastructure equipment, including the new fleet of trains designed for use as part of the Picadilly Line Upgrade.

They are responsible for maintenance activities across several disciplines, including but not limited to: Track, Signalling, HV Power and Vegetation. In addition to this maintenance, there is a large scope for Additional Service Requests (Variations) that they are requested to submit prices for and if successful, deliver, for a multitude of renewals projects required the across the test track.
