The Ambulatory Procedural Assistant is an integral member of the vascular team and participates in both direct and indirect patient care. At the direction of a Registered Nurse or provider, the Ambulatory Procedural Assistant provides assistance with procedures/exams and scheduled therapies by utilizing the two patient identifier process when preparing patients for their examination, procedure or therapy. This role also provides patient support prior to the procedure/exam/therapy through safe patient handling while assisting patients to the exam room and positioning patients on the exam tables. Additionally, this role is responsible to assist the Registered Nurse or provider during the procedure/exam/therapy by preparing the debridement tray, undressing wounds, identifying equipment needed during the procedure, specimen handling and management, vital signs, photo documentation and re-dressing wounds.
