The Microbiology Research Group at Vall d’Hebron Research Institute (VHIR) focuses on the study of microbiological aspects of infectious diseases with the aim of advancing basic, translational and clinical research to improve outcomes for patients with infectious diseases. Our research is particularly focused on studying the mechanisms involved in antimicrobial resistance, sexually transmitted infectious diseases, the study of viral and fungal infections in immunocompromised patients, the microbial pathogenicity mechanisms, microbial epidemiology as well as in the design and evaluation of novel diagnostic systems for infectious diseases.
