Reporting to the Manager, Transmission & Distribution, the Powerline Technician is a key member of the Transmission and Distribution team that performs Journeyperson level work in the construction and maintenance of electrical transmission and distribution systems, including substations underground and streetlight systems.
Responsibilities
Construct and maintain transmission and distribution lines (5kv to 138 kv), single phase and three phase, including the installation of transformers, poles, conductor and street lights. Troubleshoot and repair transmission and distribution line systems throughout the Northwest Territories. Perform routine customer service meter reading; install and remove single phase and polyphase meters. Select proper size transformers, conductors and fuses for various distribution system upgrades and repairs, and perform feeder and phase balancing.
