Position Overview
Position Summary
Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position at Michigan State University working with Prof. Laura Chomiuk on multi-wavelength observations and modelling of classical novae and related Galactic transients. Possible projects include simulating nova eruptions, measuring bolometric light curves, and testing models of shock production and gamma-ray luminosity. We encourage applications from candidates with no experience studying novae, and are open to candidates with diverse expertise, including studies of astrophysical transients, modelling stellar eruptions in MESA, and analysis of multi-wavelength data (including optical, X-ray, and/or other wavelengths).
Prof. Chomiuk's research group has active multi-wavelength programs to search for and study novae. MSU has guaranteed access to the SOAR 4-m telescope in Chile, and members of Prof. Chomiuk's group also have guaranteed access to a high-performance computing facility.
