Research which focuses on immune dysregulation in human diseases. 1) Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in Children (MIS-C) is a post SARS-CoV-2 viral inflammatory syndrome of unknown genetic etiology. Similarly, individuals with 2) Down syndrome (DS) present with increased susceptibility to an array of infectious diseases to autoimmunity. Unfortunately, the exact molecular mechanism underlying these immune defects has yet to be elucidated. Finally diseases collectively termed 3) type I interferonopathies are driven by minute increases in the levels of IFN-I cytokines. We are investigating how IFN-Is contribute to disease like MIS-C, Down Syndrome and bone fine type I Interferonopathies.
