**Job Description**

**_Roles & Responsibilities:_**

The candidate will perform biochemical and genetic characterization of cyclin-dependent protein kinases (CDKs) involved in regulating gene expression in human cells. Specifically, candidatewill focus on the roles and regulation of Cdk7, an essential regulator of both cell-cycle progression and transcription. Candidate will use extant human cell lines previously generated by my lab that allow precise control of Cdk7 activity with small molecules, and new lines. Candidate will generate by genome-editing techniques, to perform genome-wide analyses of transcription. These studies will yield important insights into how Cdk7 regulates the RNA polymerase II transcription cycle and coordinates gene expression with cell division. The candidate's findings will be reported in manuscripts that he and I will prepare for submission to top-tier, peer-reviewed journals.
