Position Overview

Description

The Yasuda lab is seeking a postdoctoral fellow who is passionate about developing new treatments and cellular models for rare genetic disorders and in advancing fundamental understanding of mammalian heme biology.

In particular, we are interested in the acute hepatic porphyrias, which are rare liver diseases due to defective heme biosynthesis. We have a track record in therapeutic development for these disorders and continue to pursue improved and safe treatments. While most of our work to date has applied mouse models to study these disorders, we are now interested in generating a biologically relevant human-based model. A newer, growing interest of our team is to investigate how mammalian cells maintain heme homeostasis, as our recent studies suggest that currently unexplored pathways are involved.

Our lab at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai is located in New York City, just steps from Central Park and in close proximity t...
