As part of an SNSF (ERC) Advanced Grant project – Predicting hotspots of climate change impacts on ecosystems from an eco‑evolutionary biome framework – you will contribute to characterising global biomes based on field measurements and existing data.

Responsibilities

• Conduct sampling of drone‑based LiDAR, multispectral imaging, and ground‑based hemispherical photography and LAI 2200 data across various biomes, and compile existing data from large databases.
• Analyse the collected data to identify systematic differences in vegetation structure.
• Refine computer‑vision models to extract leaf traits and other plant functional characteristics from aerial and terrestrial imagery.
• Analyse global plant‑photo databases to extract functional properties using the trained computer‑vision models, supporting global up‑scaling of biome information.
