**Job Summary and Qualifications**

**POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:**

**Ø Perform venous blood collection procedures competently with as little patient discomfort as possible.**

**Ø Perform blood culture collection procedures.**

**Ø Demonstrate knowledge of color top tube to use, volume of blood needed and test requirements.**

**Ø Identify the patient by comparing patient information on the requisition to the patient’s identification band before venipuncture is performed.**

**Ø Dispose all sharps in a rigid sharp container.**

**Ø Follow standard precautions at all times.**

**Ø Monitor computer/labels/computer reports to ensure accurate collections.**...
