Pharmacy Technician
Assists pharmacist in the provision of pharmacy services.
Experience in outpatient pharmacy is helpful but not required.
Education: Graduation from High School or a GED is required. Certification from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) is desirable but not required.
Essential Functions:
- Assists in all aspects of accurately preparing prescriptions for dispensing under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
- Processes prescriptions via computer system, and reviews third-party payer on-line adjudication.
- Receive requests from patients via phone, e-mail, fax, in-person, and other means
- Assists in performing inventory functions including stock replenishment and removing expired/recalled medications from the pharmacy shelves.
- Handles questions pertaining to the operations of the pharmacy that do not require the professional expertise or judgment of a pharmacist.
