Position Overview
**Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position**
PGY1 pharmacy residency programs build on Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) education and outcomes to contribute to the development of clinical pharmacists responsible for medication-related care of patients with a wide range of conditions, eligible for board certification, eligible for postgraduate year two (PGY2) pharmacy residency training.
**Essential Job Functions**
+ Performs duties of a staff pharmacist as required
+ Establishes and maintains clinical knowledge or practice that supports the needs of the ministry
+ Instructs and precepts pharmacy students as assigned
+ Develops and performs basic patient assessments as appropriate for scope of practice (i.e. assess for bruising or bleeding in patients on warfarin therapy)
+ Acts as liaison between nursing services, pharmacy services, and medical staff in developing, implementing, and maintaining clinical pharmacy programs
