Job Description
● Role: A pathologist diagnoses diseases by examining tissues, blood, and bodily fluids.
They play a key role in understanding the cause of illnesses through lab tests and tissue
analysis.
● Key Responsibilities:
○ Histopathology: Examining tissue samples under a microscope to identify
disease (e.g., cancer).
○ Cytology: Analyzing cells from fluids or tissue samples for signs of disease (e.g.,
pap smears).
○ Autopsy: Performing post-mortem exams to determine cause of death.
● Common Tests: Biopsies, Pap tests, Blood tests (CBC, liver function tests)
