Position Overview

NYU Prague is seeking a Lecturer to teach a Philosophy course, Existentialism and Phenomenology , beginning in the Spring 2026 semester (mid-January through mid-May).

This course introduces students to two of the most influential movements in twentieth-century European thought. The course examines central themes such as freedom, responsibility, authenticity, embodiment, and consciousness through the works of key figures including Kierkegaard, Nietzsche, Husserl, Heidegger, Sartre, Beauvoir, and Merleau-Ponty. The lecturer will be responsible for preparing and delivering intellectually engaging lectures, facilitating seminar-style discussions that encourage critical reflection and debate, and guiding students in close reading and interpretation of complex philosophical texts.
