Position Overview
The Palliative Care Consultant provides specialist palliative care to patients with life-limiting illnesses across inpatient, outpatient, and community settings. The role focuses on holistic, patient-centred care, integration of palliative principles into general medical services, capacity building of the multidisciplinary team, and advancement of SLH’s palliative care strategy in line with national priorities.
Responsibilities:
Clinical Care & Education Provide specialist palliative care consultations, including complex symptom management, goals-of-care discussions, and end-of-life care. Provide clinical leadership and mentorship to junior doctors and palliative care team members. Design and deliver structured education programmes in palliative care, communication skills, and end-of-life management. Build palliative care competencies across the hospital through regular teaching, case discussions, and interprofessional learning.
