SUMMARY The Occupational Therapy Assistant implements an individual patient therapy care plan that has been prepared by the Occupational Therapist and is supervised by the Occupational Therapist.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS Identifies possible ineffective drug therapy or adverse reactions, significant side effects, drug allergies, and contra-indicated medication and reports to supervisor.
Advises and consults with family to potential for achievement of optimum potential of client.
Observes and records activities and findings in the clinical record and reporting to the physician the client's reaction to treatment and any changes in the client's condition.
Communicates effectively with all those providing care.
Guides and instructs the client in prescribed therapeutic self-care and creative activities that are directed toward improving independence and physical and mental functioning.
