Occupational Safety Specialist II (General Industry)

The Safety Specialist II conducts accident prevention inspections and investigations, which subsequently result in the evaluation of all WSSC Water facilities to assist management in reducing occupational injuries and accidents. The position conducts safety and health training in compliance with State of Maryland and Federal government requirements.

Essential Functions

• Conduct safety audits on various types of WSSC Water activities and facilities and a variety of required safety training courses
• Conduct various types of industrial health evaluations and environmental monitoring including, but not limited to:
  • Non-ionization radiation monitoring
  • Lead monitoring in water
  • Noise monitoring
• Review plans for new facilities and recommend accident prevention solutions to the Division Manager, Occupational Safety & Health
