Radiology Technologist
Provides quality care to the patients receiving diagnostic and interventional radiology procedures. Prepares and administers radiopharmaceuticals for use in both diagnostic studies and therapeutic treatments.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
- Responsible for proper operation of imaging and specialty equipment. Uses devices like gamma cameras, PET scanners, and SPECT scanners to capture images of the inside of the body after the radioactive material has been absorbed.
- Explains procedures to patients to reduce their anxiety and obtain patient cooperation. Monitors patients during the procedure to ensure they are comfortable and to check for any adverse reactions. Must also follow strict protocols to minimize radiation exposure.
