+ Must be able to work independently in a wide variety of hospital environments (ICU, regular floor) with patient types including neonate through adult patient populations.

+ Obtains relevant patient history and uses this information to guide testing. Explains the procedure to the patient. Demonstrates respect for the patient and family. Follows all patient safety guidelines and ensures a safe environment.

+ Demonstrates knowledge and competency of medications and their effects on EEG studies.

+ Displays competency using the 10-20 international electrode placement system with head measurement. Precisely applies electrodes. Recognizes and eliminates artifacts by troubleshooting and correcting when possible. Selects appropriate sensitivity settings and montages.
