Select materials for routine applications including establishing appropriate materials specifications and QA/QC practices under senior engineersβ guidance.
Review H&MBs, PFDs, UFDs, and P&IDs to assist with materials selection.
Use common corrosion prediction models, perform basic corrosion calculations, and use corrosion design curves as support to material selection optimization.
Develop or review materials design basis or material selection philosophy and optimize or right size design expectations and specifications that contractors/vendors shall implement.
Participate in the development of a specification for the procurement of new equipment.
Assess and provided recommendations to resolve issues related to materials degradation at operating facilities.
Perform a failure analysis for a problem involving metallurgical deficiency or a change in material properties.
