Position Overview
A Mason is responsible for constructing, repairing, and maintaining structures made of brick, stone, and concrete. They use a variety of tools and techniques to lay and align building materials according to blueprints and specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Build walls, partitions, fireplaces, chimneys, and other structures from brick, stone or concrete blocks.
- Lay out patterns or foundations using chalk lines or square tools.
- Cut materials to specified sizes using hand or power tools.
- Mix mortar or grout and spread it onto surfaces using trowels or other tools.
- Align structures by checking them with levels or plumb bobs.
- Repair cracks or damaged areas of existing masonry structures.
- Create decorative finishes by using techniques such as polishing or sculpting.
