DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: This is a semi-skilled position involving independently performed maintenance and repair work of a routine nature. Incumbents in learning and perfecting their trade skills may serve as helpers or perform skilled activities under the supervision of Maintenance Mechanics or other skilled workers, or after receiving detailed instructions. Employees may also operate automotive equipment on a part-time basis. Work is performed under direct supervision or is subject to review by inspection. The job may require employees to work outdoors in all kinds of weather and to work various shifts on a seven (7) day per week basis. Overall supervision of others is not a responsibility of this class. Does related work as required.
