5W is an acute medical/orthopedic surgical unit at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital (MHRH). As an LPN you will work with the 5W team providing care to a variety of medical and surgical patients in a collaborative environment. Reporting to the Unit Manager, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of comprehensive patient and family centered care on an acute combined medical/surgical unit in accordance with Medicine Hat Regional Hospital (MHRH) and Alberta Health Services (AHS) policies and procedures. This unit works under a collaborative care nursing model on all shifts with RNs, Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), and Health Care Aides working together to provide patient care. All LPNs will have the opportunity to work to their full scope of practice within hospital policy which includes complex patient assessment and management, leadership, and inter‑professional collaboration.
