Position Overview
As a lecturer in special education, you will be responsible for teaching theory and practice in the field of special education. You will design teaching programs, run course sessions, assess students and advise them on their academic progress. They may also contribute to research in their field of expertise. The skills and concepts imparted include:
Intervening with young people with learning and language difficulties; Developing intervention strategies for clients with learning and language difficulties or disorders. They will learn how to detect a problem situation; Interact with clients from ethnic and cultural communities different from their own; Interpersonal communication, communication techniques, verbal and non-verbal communication and the relationship between emotions and communication; Compiling the information needed to describe customer behaviour.
